LA Design is very pleased to be associated with an extremely exciting product development, the subject of a Kickstarter campaign to secure funding for the next stage of productionising.

Flitchio is the world’s first fully interactive smart phone case that enables advanced mobile gaming through pressure sensitive buttons and joysticks, without compromising any of the phones normal functionality. The unused space on the back of the phone is utilised to provide
ultra-sensitive control in a slim package that is truly mobile and enables the whole screen to act as a display. Normally, gaming on smart phones results in fingers masking the screen and inaccurate touch controls with no tactile response. With Flitchio, pushing harder translates into increases in; volume, speed, forces etc. and direction is controlled by an innovative and unique joystick design, proven over many prototype iterations that have been tested by gamers.

Flitchio snaps onto the phone like any other phone case and communicates whilst taking power using NFC (Near Field Communication). Tests have proven that the device uniquely harvests the idle energy of the phone without draining the battery.
The contours, textures, materials and finishes on the case are designed to assist handling and to also guide the fingers to the four control locations. The overall experience of use is very engaging, natural and direct – leading to many other possible applications where sensitivity and accurate control is important.
Flitchio is the first product from Supenta, a London based start-up specialising in NFC hardware. They have already received two rounds of funding from Innovate UK for the work necessary to research and develop the product to fully working prototype stage. LA Design has been responsible for all physical design aspects and looks forward to taking this unique product into high volume production.
